With home automation and smart devices becoming a new and emerging trend, there becomes a need for controller.

Home Assistant really is this system. Whilst there are plenty of alternatives out there, Home Assistant does a really great job.

So what is so great about Home Assistant?
- It’s FREE, yes FREE!
- As of publishing this article, they are boasting 1900+ integrations
- It is very well supported and widely used in the Home Automation community
- There’s a lot of FREE published articles about how to make the most out of Home Assistant
- They also have a few other products that tie into their system very well (Home Assistant Yellow / Home Assistant SKyConnect)
- Home Assistant is a locally hosted solution (in your house) and can be exclusively confined to the boundaries of your house if neccessary
- Whilst operated locally, it can also be connected to Cloud services such as Google and Alexa and remotely monitored
- They have a very capable and FREE app for Android/Apple
